A Chilling Scene

I went to a pond yesterday and found interesting patterns caused by the varying depths of the pond. In another section, I found a pathway of broken ice (below). It was there that I met a woman who told me that a family had fallen through the ice over the weekend and the path was the route the rescuers took to save them. I also saw the family’s footprints going from the shore to the hole where they fell in, but could not photograph that scene. They all suffered hypothermia, but should be fine. Hats off to the brave first responders.

Crikey, I guess they were lucky to be saved.
They were really lucky that someone was on the shore with a mobile phone to call it in.
What a chilling thought – that no-one was around.
Well done to those that were.
