This is Japanese Knotweed and it is a very invasive. I have one growing near my house and I have tried and tried to get rid of it. It almost looks pretty at this time of the year, but every seed could mean a new impossible to get rid of plant.

    OH! That stuff. Have you tried cutting it down close to the ground. If the stem isn’t hollow cut an “X” in it with a knife and pour salt into it. Unchecked they can grow as big as trees!
    But it does make a beautiful picture.

      I tried doing that one year with Tabasco sauce & slicing the roots with a sharp shovel. That didn’t work, but I will try salt this weekend. Thank you & wish me luck.
