About
I have been a photographer on and off for many years. After an off period, I started this photo blog, with the goal of taking one photo per day as a way to set a goal and create structured time for creativity every day. The goal has transformed over the last year, so that now I post a thematically daily.
Most of my photographs remove details from context so as to present them anew. I feel a sense of contentment while walking, watching the cycles of the seasons, pausing to capture patterns or creating a still life. I enjoy looking closely at the detail and underlying structure to find beauty in the ordinary. This is where I find peace in my life.

Hi Lynn, I do like your blog, its the true meaning of Art through Photography.
Thanks for your visit and kind comments.
imac – writing to you from my iMac, thank you so much for such a nice compliment.
Hi Lynn,
let me think – egotistical? Well, no, as I have to agree completely. 😉
Love your point of view, and I’ll definitly keep an eye on your project!
Cosima
A mutual appreciation.
And here I thought I was being original by starting a picture-a-day project. :-] Love your eye for abstraction.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing more of your images.
I see some similarities between your photography and some of mine. I also like texture and movement in close-ups. I will check back often. Please look at my site if you get a chance. Thank you.
Yes, I’ll have to take a closer look and read, but I do see what you mean. Thank you.
Hi 🙂 I live in Boston and I think your images are gorgeous and I like the idea behind this blog. My girlfriend went to school for photography and is teaching me, very slowly, the ins and outs of it all. I love it. I look forward to more of your posts!

Hello Neighbor,
Thank you for your positive feedback today. Good luck with your lessons,
Hi Lynn,
It looks like you’re having a good time with the photography, keep it up. Hope you visit my site again soon, there’s lots of close-up and macro stuff scattered throughout.
Thank you. I am having a good time and I do plan on visiting your site again.
fantastic photography, a subject after my own heart, have you come across a site called Blipfoto, it hosts a comunity devoted to a photo a day, thought you might be interested, keep up the fabulous work.
Thank you. I took a quick look at Blipfoto, looks very interesting. Do you have work on that site?
I do the same thing with my photography…it’s great practice and you have beautiful work! Keep it up!
Thank you. I had a quick look at your work and it is intriguing.
Lynn,
I have now had a look at your blog and photos. You were right, we often shoot the same kind of subjects and looking at your pictures made me very happy and I really like your work. I will probably come back here often. By the way, do you mind if I link to your blog?
All best,
I’m glad that my work made you feel happy. Please do list my blog & I will list yours. Many thanks.
Lovely, lovely work. And I’m impressed that you have been so devoted for over a year. Keep it up.
Thank you, I plan to keep it up.
Took the time to check your blog site, following your comment on one of my photographs.
I like what I see. Photographs are everywhere, if you just know where to look. And you have that knowledge, combined with the necessary expertise.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much.
I found yor blog through Dave “the lazy photographer” and I’m really impressed.
I added it to my blogroll, so that I will closely follow the developements of your exquisite imagery.
Please feel free to drop by my blog: I would love to hear from you as well. http://maurometallo.wordpress.com/
Keep up the good work.See you around.
Mauro Metallo.
Thank you Mauro, I will take a look.
So you find peace via walking and photographing. In contrast, I get very excited when photographing. It is very stimulating to my body, mind and spirit. BUT, afterwards, then comes the peace. Hmm. Shanti Om to you, Lynn.
The rest of my life is ‘stimulating’ enough, so yes it’s a peaceful pursuit for me.
i’m not a professional photographer or critic or something. But just as a viewer, after roaming through your wonderful photoblog, it seemed to me that you have a special kind of rhythm in your photography. I liked your compositions. Respect.
Thank you for visiting and for leaving such a nice comment. I truly appreciate it.
Hi Lynn, thanks for passing by my blog. I am liking your eye on the architecture at the moment, and in answer to your question, yes, more than happy.
Thank you for visiting and I’m glad you like my architectural eye.
Lynn, pardon my ignorance, but how does “redbubble” ‘serve’ you differently thann this blog?
One can sell on redbubble and they do the printing, framing and shipping. It’s also a different community, that originated in Australia, then Europe, then the US. I think your ‘scapes’ would do well on redbubble.
Your work, Lynn, continues to please and amaze with is high technical quality and abstractional ingenuity. I hope that further recognition and success will accompany you.
Thank you so much Jessica for your kind words.
Dear Lynn
Many thanks for yet another comment on Berlin Black and White. In fact I found your portfolio in red bubble so nice that I just set up an account for myself :-).
Your wordpress blog is also very beautiful. It is very soft, and the template certainly goes well with you pictures. Good choices all the way.
Have a good day.
Best
Knut
Thank you so much Knut. I find your work to be quite wonderful, so I appreciate your kind words a lot. I couldn’t find you on redbubble, please send a link.
Well, I just set up the membership.
My screen name is barebones (because I have such a difficult Norwegian last name). I hppe that my real name will be visible as well.
I see they want up to 60 MB files. That is a lot. Would that be jpg or other? I can’t find that information on their page. I might try with one or two images later today. Just to get the feel of it.
Thanks.
Best
Knut
You don’t need to worry about the size or format of your images. If they are not large enough files, then they cannot make poster size prints – that’s all. I look forward to seeing your page once it is set up.
Welcome back, photography is a way to show what inside you. Hope you find what you looking for.
Regard,
Ali,
Thank you for visiting Ali.
I completely agree with your view of photography! I often find myself walking around and looking at things through an imaginary frame and just selecting details and extracting them from their context.
Great blog!
I’ll have to go have a look.
Hey! I’m awarding you with the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award! Check out my blog to see what it’s all about! http://www.pany123.wordpress.com/2011/06/03/the-irresistibly-sweet-blog-award/
That’s so nice of you and I hope to be able to carry on the awards soon.
Beautiful….RaeDi
Thank you so much RaeDi.
A photo a day? what a great Idea, I would definitely go for that now, thanks for sharing your great2 photos, 🙂
Thank you – it is a great goal, give it a try.
[…] Lynn – posts beautiful daily photos rich with color and texture in her blog. […]
Hi Lynn – I have sent you the ‘Versatile Blogger’ award – though I see that my track-back got here before I did. 🙂
Thank you for sharing your lovely photos. It’s great to look at the world through your lens, for a moment a day.
Thank you so much, Sandy. I’ve made note of the honor and hope to do the rest tonight.
Hi Lynn,
Thanks for stopping by at Postcard Cafe and for your kind comments. I was really pleased to discover your blog and although a lot of your photography is very different from my own there are areas of shared interest and I really like that it’s a daily blog. Great work. I’ve added links on both my blogs. Your friend may also be interested in http://steelcitystatic.wordpress.com which is dedicated to all things small in Sheffield! I’ve just given the site an overhhaul and dressed it in a new theme. I’m attempting to make it a daily blog… Time will tell but so far so good. I’ve subscribed to your blog and will enjoy my daily emails. Keep up the great work. Thanks and Best wishes, Nigel.
Thank you very much, Nigel. I’ve forwarded your urls to my friend and I will now subscribe to both of your blogs. Isn’t it great to discover people with interesting work.
Yes, it’s great to discover new sites and people who are so inspiring.
I’m impressed with your commitment to photography and to your daily blogging. You’ve a great eye for detail and for seeing beauty in places that many would pass by without a second glance. In a world that is spinning too fast we all need to slow down from time to time. Your blog is a great reminder of the things we so often miss and the importance of pausing to see what’s in front of us. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Nigel. Yes, the world is spinning way too fast and I find it’s important for me to stop and really see.
I continue to enjoy your blog. I notice that in your tags you note a few different cameras. May I ask do you always shoot with your Canon SLR or do you also use a compact? I’m a great believer that it’s the person behind the camera that makes the shot but decent cameras can help to deliver what you hope to capture. Thanks…
Thank you, Nigel. I either use the Canon or a point & shoot or my phone, depending on what I happen to have with me.
Hey! I’ve given you the Liebster Blog Award. Check out my blog to see what it’s all about!
I’m honored. Thank you so much. Hopefully I can get it together to pass it on soon.
Great photos. I really enjoyed looking through your blog. Love the reflection shots
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your visit and comment.
Hi Lynn, Hope all is well. I noticed that you “liked” my post about Nick Hunter the woodcarver and I thought you may be interested that he has today set up a wordpress blog (with a little encouragement from me). If you are interested to see/follow his site he is here: http://nickhunterwoodcarver.wordpress.com/ I mentioned to him that since being on wordpress I had found some inspiring blogs – Yours being one that came to mind! Keep up your brilliant work. Best wishes, N 🙂
Nick Hunter’s work is wonderful. Thank you, Nigel, for the fine compliment and the link.
I just wanted to let you know I nominated you for an award (The Very Inspiring Blogger Award to be exact), for all the rules check the link – http://itstartswithapicture.wordpress.com/2013/03/26/the-very-inspiring-blogger-award/
Thank you so much Chloe, what an honor. I really appreciate your nomination.
Hi Lynn, Just a quick note to let you know I have today launched my third blog!!! It will take time for the content to build so it is early days. I’ve put a few posts up today so that it appears a bit more established but I don’t intend to make it a daily blog so I’m not going to over stretch myself. If you fancy taking a look it is here: http://shopfrontsofsheffield.com/
The wordpress Mixfolio theme works really well and gives a nice clean look overall. I like that when you click onto the thumbnail images you get a large image plus tabs for comments and info like a proper website!
You can delete this from your comments column after you read it because it doesn’t really relate to your site. I just thought you might like to see my latest small corner of the internet! Best wishes, N 🙂
New and Nice, Nigel. Don’t know how you have the time to have three blogs though.
Your second paragraph above is something I completely resonate with. Nicely written! Simple and straightforward and true.
Thank you, Lynn.
Beautiful work, Lynn. I use digital photography and digital drawing elements in my work also. You seem to have an innate sensitivity to your photography. I particularly like your recent posts comparing the abstracted front image w/ the blurred nature backdrops. Cheers from New Jersey! -Patricia
Thank you for your kind words Patricia.
