Even though it hasn’t been feeling or looking like spring. I assume the birds know better.

Someone put birdseed all along a ledge. It was mainly squirrels having a feast, but occasionally a tiny junco would get a taste.

About a mile from where I saw a tons of starlings on the wires, I found them again on the bare poplar trees.

It’s been unseasonably warm here lately. While I was out gardening on a mid-December Sunday morning, a flock of sparrows flew from tree to tree to my wisteria (that I needed to trim). Later, I pulled over to see thousands of starlings perched on wires along a very busy street. This is just one small section. Kind of felt like I was in the Hitchcock movie The Birds.

Apparently the cardinal couple that lives in my yard had a child. I’ve never seen a nest and don’t know if this one has some siblings.

The sparrows were singing and sunning in the juniper tree on the calm before the storm day. It was a lovely day.

Starlings hanging from bare trees, looking like holiday ornaments. Happy Boxing Day.

On a too quick trip to Maine yesterday, we had lunch, walked on the beach for a few minutes, and then sadly had to turn around and go home. I did see a flock of seagulls flying low and coming in for a landing.

18 birds on it, one in the air and two in the water. Seagulls and the cormorants. Reminding me of the Portlandia sketch Put a Bird on It. The latest heatwave ended with a bang last night, cooler temps all week will be a temptation for me to walk more than I should.
Bird Hill

So many busy birds on a hill. I had to crop a lot of them out so that they didn’t look like dots in this small format.
