The Colors of Autumn
November 21, 2021 § 2 Comments

I walk by this yard every morning, but it’s not until this time of year that I stop to take notice.
Before the Storms

I’m glad I did get one photo of peak foliage before two days of crazy storms. Now most of the leaves are on the ground. Seems to happen every year.
Felicia

For a few days I thought I might have lost 20 years of photographs. Hopefully this has been resolved. My felicia plant did not flower all summer, but now that I have brought it inside for the winter it is producing it’s tiny blue blooms. I softened the photo a bit as I was playing around with my new version of Lightroom.
Late and Wet
October 26, 2021 § 9 Comments

Wrangling with a new computer, a week of mainly rain, homework for classes, finding myself a little less tolerant of technology.
But between the downpours, I had to admire my late blooming wet fuchsia this morning.
I have been spending time on natural history illustration, botanical illustration and the perpetual journal and dealing with tech. This has meant a lot less time on photography. My big question is would you prefer a mixed media blog with more posts or stick with occasional photo posts? Please let me know.
The Light

I was struck by the beautiful light next to a path through a wooded area. I hope it comes across in the photo.

A nice autumn wildflower, that despite it’s name doesn’t last forever.
Baby Toad

My promised cute post for you. I thought there was an insect hopping underfoot, but discovered it was a baby toad. Here it is trying to hide from me under a blade of grass.
Filaments II

I have no idea what this is, but it was abundant in an area of the forest floor and I had a morbid fascination with it. Does anyone know what it is? I promise to post something cute next time.
Escapees

Cosmos from a neighbor’s yard and Queen Anne’s Lace from mine formed a lovely little bouquet in a sidewalk crack.
When the Meadow rue is turning red

Ahh, my first week of retirement has gone by and I have the Urge for Going (Joni Mitchell) even though the winter is not closing in. Why? Construction all day and throughout most of the nights. I thought I’d spend everyday being creative and I have done some things, but I’m mainly just a sleep deprived zombie. Best laid plans….
