They changed the months that dogs are allowed on the closest beach, so we can no longer go legally in April through September. Yesterday it was. It looks so calm in this still photo, but the wind was blowing sand in my eyes.

My begonia escargot had some kind of disease, so I cut off all the leaves. Three new un-diseased leaves have emerged – two normal and this intriguing mutation.

Due to a pronounced scar on this tree trunk it created a deep shadow. The moss is greening around it. More crocuses are blooming, but it isn’t quite spring beyond the garden.

For about one hour yesterday my tiny crocuses bloomed. They are again closed up tight and will hopefully make it through all the bad weather this weekend to make Monday another happy day.

It rained last night. Springlike temperatures today. All the snow and ice has melted to reveal crocus greens emerging from the ground. But wait, snowstorm on Friday with below freezing temperatures for the following week. Spring will have to wait.

The light was lovely yesterday between the docks in the shallows of the river where melting had begun.

From the other day when it was above freezing. My birdbath gives me interesting abstract views in the winter.

I don’t know how these swirly patterns of snow were formed, but they reminded me of simplified roses.

Stripped Bare

Somehow this tree, devoid of its bark, bare and raw seemed fitting to end the second year of the pandemic. But there is also the beauty of the abundant lichen and evergreen as well.

Happy New Year to all.
