I had to wonder if this was called Turtle Pond because there are lots of turtles that I did not see or if it was because this island looks a little like a turtle.

While looking for toads at a vernal pond, I found a bunch of tiny turtles sunning themselves on logs. All but one jumped into the water as I came close.

This limb had some of each growing on it as it was reaching for the pond. A summer like day yesterday, almost seemed surreal when we rounded a bend to find a pile of snow.
