I went back to the orchids yesterday. A 36 hour wintry mix is now upon us, so I thought I’d better treat myself to some new indoor ferns and an orchid before the storm began. I had the hardest time deciding, but did not pick these orchids.

Lady Slippers

The state flower of Minnesota is the rare Showy Lady Slipper, that one can occasionally find while walking in the woods. When I saw these Lady Slipper orchids it brought back memories, until I looked inside. This is a case where something can be beautiful and ugly at the same time.
